North Georgia Wildlife

Welcome to the North Georgia Wildlife blog. I am located near Amicalola Fall in north Georgia. I am a wildlife watcher / stalker and want to share my experiences with others. I watch our local wildlife so diligently that many of the animals I watch now have identifying names. I hope that you enjoy thier life stories!!

I will be posting pictures that I take personally and pictures which are taken with my trail cams. I will also at times post videos which are also captured with my trail cams. I hope you enjoy seeing the wildlife I watch and blog about as much as I do!

And the troops go marching on!! Looks like the girls were on the move last night pretty heavy. They were far infront of the boys, I figure by morning they met up somewhere.

Some big boys around here right now. Looks like they are eating good! They dont look to bad off for the rut.

Not so quick ButtonTop, you so sure your ready for all of that!! I havent seen my little devil around his mamma much. I have to assume she was seperated from him and bred by a buck. Good luck mamma bring us a baby to watch grow. ButtonTop is gonna be just fine!

At one point yesterday morning we had almost whiteout condition. Hubby and I were out doing some tracking and I snapped this cell pic of the beautiful snow!

For anyone who may have been wondering. YES button top (our little devil) is still around. He’s putting on a pretty nice winter coat. He is growing up fast. And Im sure since we are in the rut, button top is for the most part avoiding any big boys!!

Look who got a stick stuck in his antlers!! Looks like my pretty boy has been doing some rubbing on trees. For those who dont know, bucks rub thier antlers on trees to mark thier territory. Well sometimes branches can get stuck in them. It will fall out when he is sparing with another male or rubs his antlers on another tree. Its not a big deal, just a normal part of thier life.

Look what the Rut drug in!! For those who dont know, during the rut (breeding season) young bucks can/will be pushed out of a area where big bucks have taken over for breeding rights. On the other hand the rut also causes Bucks to expand their roaming area to incumpass more females. Either way, I like these boys visiting! Needless to say though, they werent being real nice to each other. Its a ery tense time of the year for them.

Button Top (devil) vs. Bigger Buck!

I was just watching the bucks in the yard. One of the bigger bucks was here eating and then left. Button Top (our little devil) then came in to eat. Then low and behold the bigger buck shows back up and begins chasing button top off. Such is wildlife!! =( As soon as I can I will grab my disk from the trail cam and post pictures of this even if it got it.

Awwww look who is getting along together! This was actually an unusual sight for me because when a Buck comes in, usually the racoons leave. I have only witnessed them eating with Doe’s. But then again these are huge racoons and this is our so-called pet deer that visits daily. Guess they figure if they are all going to live her full time they might as well get along. =D YaY-Face!!
